Talk topic:  “Saturn – the real Lord of the Rings”

The Cassini spacecraft, which has been orbiting Saturn since 2004, has made many amazing discoveries about the planet and its rings.  To prevent accidental contamination of one of the moons or another object by Earth microorganisms the spacecraft will be destroyed by burning up in Saturn’s atmosphere on September 15, 2017.  We’ll discuss some of Cassini’s discoveries as well as the planet, its moons and rings.  This year the rings, always a spectacular sight, are particularly visible.

Talk starts in the AB Ceder room. After the talk there will be stargazing if the weather permits. Free; open to the public. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Dress warmly, as even in the summer it may be chilly.
