Ever seen sunspots? Know what a sunspot is? Now’s your chance to find out! The club will hold its annual Solar Viewing event during White Memorial’s Family Nature Day.
The Sun is a restless, seething cauldron of activity – hot gases roiling the visible surface, prominences where material is being lifted into space, intense magnetic fields. We’ll bring white-light telescopes allowing safe viewing of sunspots, and Hydrogen-alpha scopes, which show flares and prominences.
Note: if the sky is cloudy the event will not take place.
