COVID-19 Updates – As of October 7th 2020

The newly commissioned 14 and 12″ Meade LX200 scopes at the WMCC observatory

Club Meetings

Due to ongoing state restrictions on group meeting sizes, we’re now holding club board meetings via Zoom; if you would like to join a meeting, please let the club secretary know at We also have an active Discord server where club members communicate about ongoing projects and observing (see here to join)

Star Parties and Talks

White Memorial is still closed for indoor events, so for the time being our events are outdoors-only and weather-dependent. Star Parties in accordance with CT state guidelines are limited to 100 people maximum, we also require everyone attending bring and wear a mask or cloth facial covering that covers your face and nose, we also ask that you please maintain social distancing when next to other people at the event or when viewing objects inside the observatory (we limit the number of people to no more than 4 at a time, including members operating the telescopes inside). We hope we’ll be able to have our annual Astro-imaging update at White Memorial in November, but we will continue to see how White Memorial and the state of Connecticut guidelines evolve.

We are exploring talks via Facebook live (see our May talk here). Please stay tuned to our site and Facebook page for updates.
